Welcome to the virtual home of the Town of Wayfarer, Georgia! We’d love to have you visit us in the actual world. Whether you want shopping, dining, exploring the nearby swamp and nearby coastal plain, or just relaxing, we can accommodate you. And our annual festivals offer a great opportunity to get away from your everyday routine.

As you can see, we have a variety of charming shops and eateries to serve you. If you’re lost, the friendly folks at any of them will be glad to help you. You can always find event listings, as well as local news, in the Wayfarer Weekly Oracle, available from boxes around town for just $2.00.
Restaurants
Tom’s Grill & Griddle, on The Square, is open 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday, serving breakfast and lunch.
The Fairy’s Table Bakery, 102 N. Burke St., specializes in pastries and fruit breads, open 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m Monday – Friday, 8:00-noon Saturdays.
The Goddess’s Hearth Cafe, located at 201 North Burke, offers a selection of homemade fresh juices, breads, soups, sandwiches, vegetarian entrees, and desserts, many made with local produce from 7:00 a.m. to 8 p.m., open daily.
Serenity’s Rainbow Java Spot supplies coffee, sandwiches, and pastries from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Stop in at 206 N. Burke and relax!
The Bar, 75 Calhoun Street, offers Good Food for Good Times from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, as well as the only pool room in town. The menu includes selections from The Bar’s microbrewery as well as sandwiches, salads, and a rotating selection of featured entrees.
Shopping
The Crystal Grotto (208 N. Burke) offers a wide selection of crystals, candles, tarot cards, and metaphysical supplies as well as monthly tarot readings. The shop is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
For a mani-pedi, shampoo, cut and style, or any combination of those services, stop in at the Beautiful Auras Salon, 201 E. Ravenel St., open 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, 10:00 to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
Books of all varieties grace the shelves at Magic on the Page, located at 212 N. Burke St. Visitors often find the extensive Local Interest and Magickal Energy sections of special interest. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
If needlework is your passion, Neena’s Knitting Bag has what you need! Weekly classes are also offered. We’re at 315 N. Burke St., open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
Services
If you have a sudden spill and need your clothes cleaned or mended in a hurry, Frank’s Cleaners, 314 N. Burke, can fix you up. One-hour turnaround for cleaning items in-store before 3 p.m weekdays. Mending time depends on the job. Open Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Need help with numbers? FLJ Accountants can help, whether the problem is as small as a checkbook or as big as a business ledger. Open 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
All public records are stored at the Wayfarer County Courthouse, on the town square. Our friendly staff will be glad to help you find or register information anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Parking is available behind the building. There’s also an entrance off the parking lot for the offices of the Wayfarer County Sheriff’s Department.
Accomodations
We have a fine selection of chain motels near highway 82. If you’re looking for local color, any of these fine establishments will welcome you:
The Wayfarer Inn, Wayfarer County’s first hotel, has graced the square since 1857. Spacious rooms, each with its own bath, are decorated in antebellum style. The Inn has offered its guests free WiFi longer than any other establishment. Package deals available!
Old Courthouse B&B is housed in Wayfarer County’s post-Civil War courthouse. Built in 1879 and used for judicial proceedings and county offices until 1964, the building is now a small, intimate inn decorated in late Victorian ambience but with the convenience of free WiFi. Rates include full breakfast.
The Whispering Pines Motel, on Highway 121, offers neat, modern accommodations with ample parking and free internet access. Convenient to area attractions. Special government rates available.
Festivals
Spring Fling ~ Held the week after the Spring Equinox, this festival celebrates the arrival of Spring and the approach of Beltane, the Gaelic May Day. We have a street fair and carnival, with craft shows and games.
Midsummer ~ As the year reaches its midpoint and the days grow shorter, celebrate the start of summer with our candlelight vigil on Midsummer’s Eve and a three-day, solstice-themed street fair that begins Midsummer Day. We have food stalls and games for the entire family.
Harvest Moon ~ This late September celebration, held the week after the Autumnal Equinox, honors the reaping of the harvest. Square dancing, a craft show, and a street fair add festive notes.
Winter’s Turning~ What better way to celebrate the lengthening days than a two-day party? Dancing, candlelight vigil to moonrise, and a street fair all keep our spirits up despite the early darkness.
Specific dates for each year’s festivals are posted by January 31.
