About Nancy

Nancy Northcott’s childhood ambition was to grow up and become Wonder Woman.  Around fourth grade, she realized it was too late to acquire Amazon genes, but she still loves comic books, genre fiction, and history.

A former attorney and sometime book reviewer, she’s currently writing the Boar King’s Honor historical fantasy trilogy for Falstaff Books. Its Richard III theme was inspired by her longtime interest in him, which includes giving presentations on Richard III and the Wars of the Roses to university classes studying Shakespeare’s Richard III. This year, she launched the first a related series of historical fantasy mysteries, The Merlin Club. Additional volumes with be published by Falstaff Books, probably in 2023.

Nancy independently publishes the Arachnid Files romantic suspense series and the Light Mage Wars contemporary paranormal romances. She is the publisher of the Caynham Castle multi-author holiday romance anthologies. With Jeanne Adams, she creates and publishes the Outcast Station science fiction series.

Nancy’s debut novel, Renegade, earned a starred review from Library Journal, which described it as “genre fiction at its best.” She has presented writing workshops and participated on writing-related panels for RWA chapters and regional conferences, the RWA national conference, and science fiction conventions, including RavenCon, ConCarolinas, Atomacon, and Chattacon.

Carrying her fannish interests into adulthood, Nancy taught “Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Society” in the American Studies program at UNC-Charlotte for several years. The course examined the ways societies treat those who are other and the roles of technology and government in society. She is active in comic book fandom and has written reviews for Batman News. In 2019, she participated in Bowling Green State University’s Batman in Popular Culture conference. Her presentation examined the fusion of comic book and romance novel themes in the relationship of Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing) and Barbara Gordon (Batgirl/Oracle). She is currently the Comics Track Director for Con-Tinual, the convention that never sleeps, on Facebook.
