Geoffrey Armstrong, a spy for the Crown, infiltrates a nobleman’s guard to find traitors plotting against King Edward IV.  Uncovering them will restore the rank and respect he lost when his father disowned him. Unfortunately, he’s falling in love with his chief suspect’s lovely, compassionate daughter.

Set free by her abusive husband’s death, Lady Maud Greville resolves never to marry again.  Her heart, however, yearns for Geoff, her tall, brave guard captain.  His low birth separates them, but his courage in defending her from disappointed suitors touches her scarred, guarded heart.  After an attempt on Maud’s life drives Geoff to flee with her, the social gap between them disappears.  Fighting to survive creates a deep bond of trust between them and brings their passions to the fore.
