Jeanne, you're the Christmas Guy of Halloween. We should call you The Halloween Queen. Decorating on your birthday sounds like fun.

Our friend who made the tree skirt had a Christmas Eve birthday. We always celebrated early.

The wooden bell sounds gorgeous.

Hiya Nancy! I loved your description and I can see in my minds-eye just where all those things would be. :> We live in a neighborhood where some decorate (wildly and extravagently) and some don't (for varied reasons including not celebrating the same holidays as holidays), but most at least put a wreath up, of some kind. We go for lights. Lots of lights. I don't do as much as I do for Halloween - which involves large-scale projects on the front lawn depending on the year's theme - but still, the lights go up at the very least. The exception was two years ago when it snowed BEFORE Christmas. The lights sat in their box, waiting for a day where we could put them up. And waited. And waited. Finally, I packed them away, never having put them up. Grins. Our neighbors are already lighting the night. We'll do ours on my birthday next week, a kinda fun tradition. :> My fav decoration is a carved wooden bell that we hang on the tree. It has some special memories attached. :>

Nancy,

That is so cool that your son has great story ideas. I have a friend, who is annonymously writing a series with her son and is having a ball doing so. And you and I have discussed that my daughter is writing a steampunk/YA/romance, which she is eagerly asking me to guide her through the process.

Think it's in the genes?

Hey Anna C!

LOL on the sharing of one's self. Lacy clearly is moreofan extravert than even I am! hehehe

But you have a long road to publication, too, so you know that persistence is the only way to achieve the goals we writers set for ourselves!! And we readers are glad you stuck to your "guns", too!

Good luck in your quest!

Hi Nancy and Suz! Great post - very inspiring, Suz.

I agree about persistence and stubborn - every time I try to give up because I can't take it anymore, the voices in my head won't let me! And, yeah - I'm like that mule too.

The supportive family and friends are huge. I wouldn't be where I am today without them! One of the things I look forward to when I sell is being able to repay the faith that all those people have in me.

Suz, I've been lucky with finding friends who get it, too. When the boy was little, he used to give me story ideas, and I encouraged him to write them himself. Now he does!

Hi, Anna--You know a lot about sticking to your guns and persisting. And no, we don't share in quite the same way as Lacy in the Lair. *g8

Hiya Nancy! Hiya Suz! Suz, I love how you stuck to your guns (clearly six-shooters!) and fought through to get your book published. Yay, you! I wish you all the best for your career and thanks so much for sharing your wonderful self with us on the Banditas (although not quite in the way that Lacy shares herself, AHEM!!!!).

Nancy, that's what I've found about people and writing. A lot of the people I work with can't imagine even picking up a pen to write, but there are many who like to tell me they have a story idea for me! LOL

I tell them, "Turst me, I have enough problems with the stories I already have floating around in my head!"
